Howard University Community:

The Provost Search Committee has worked diligently over the last academic year to recruit a permanent Provost and Chief Academic Officer. The search has been widespread and intensive to identify candidates for the position.

In the spring semester, just prior to the finalists’ campus interviews, one of the four candidates asked not to be considered. The University community met the three remaining finalists. Recently, a second finalist has requested that his name be removed from consideration.

With the withdrawal of the two leading candidates for the position – Dr. William Harvey, a seasoned administrator, and Dr. Alvin Thornton, our Interim Provost – I have asked the Committee to resume a global search for a permanent Provost.

We value your involvement in the process, so we will continue to keep you abreast of the progress and enlist your participation as we move forward.
